"The secret of success is constancy to purpose."
This SET GEN paper required a consistent approach. On a scale of 1 to 10 the difficulty of this paper could be scaled at 4 points. A thorough analysis of this paper was a revelation of sorts.
Today’s SET (General) 2010 was not a demanding paper for a student who prepared consistently over a period of time.
Career Forum’s exhaustive PreSETs were a boon for all the students who were serious in their choice of a career in Management, IT, Mass Media and Communication and Economics.
DETAILED SECTION-BY-SECTION ANALYSIS
GENERAL ENGLISH
A stew pot of easy questions is how this section can be described. Simmering in the stew were ‘synonyms’, ‘antonyms’ in word format as well as in sentence format, ‘meaning of idioms’ , ‘phrasal meanings’,’ fill in the blanks’(words & grammar), ‘contextual meaning of sentences’, ‘parts of speech’, and the inevitable but incorrigible ‘reading comprehension’. The few spiced flavors in the stew were in the form of ‘deciding the closest antonyms for some of the words’, ‘filling in the blank with appropriate verbs’, ‘identifying the appropriate meaning of the underlined phrase’. The reading comprehension passage could have been the dessert after the spicy aftermath of the main course of the Verbal Ability.

GENERAL AWARENESS SECTION
The GK Blues have always been a bone of contention with many students and they cannot be just wished away. A few tremors were felt in this General Awareness section in the form of ambiguity in some answer options where two options could have been the answer.
QUANTITATIVE ABILITY SECTION
An absolutely delightful section for a committed Career Forum student. All questions were a part of the provided study material. This section covered all areas of Mathematics in addition to giving weightage to questions in Arithmetic. A thorough knowledge of basics did the trick.

“A gem cannot be polished without friction, nor a man perfected without trials”.
The SET LAW 2010 entrance exam once again proved that the travails of being a lawyer are not without a fair hearing. This paper was a stepping stone to reach a consensus in the field of law where reasoning skills play a dominant role. Qualities which make up a lawyer of astute shrewdness coupled with a demanding tenacity were explored to the fore through this paper. The paper cannot be termed as tough in terms of difficulty but it invoked a mental toughness within a student. This is where Career Forum’s PreSET LAW tests become role models for its students.
There is a thin line dividing a manager and a lawyer. Law school teaches law graduates how to take two situations that are exactly the same and show how they are different, whereas management school teaches a management graduate how to take a situation and tackle it in as many different ways as it is possible!

READING COMPREHENSION SECTION
Three passages made up for this section with all them displaying various shades of difficulty in terms of interpreting the passage. Though the passages were not very lengthy understanding the text was a little unnerving. Direct questions with hardly any inference based made up for all 30 questions in this section. A couple of questions showed an ambiguity in the answer options, typical lawyer trait! Otherwise on the whole this section can be termed as ‘Easy’.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE SECTION
GK in this SET LAW paper was a trip down history lane. The field of law demands that each student have the fundamentals of the constitution on their fingertips to help them in their battle of wits in courtrooms or in preparing cases for clients on various subjects. A fair amount of knowledge of the Articles and Amendments is also necessary. This section cannot be termed as difficult or easy as everything is related to memorizing facts and figures. It is a continuous learning process.
LEGAL REASONING SECTION
More than case related legal reasoning this section tested a student’s legal aptitude. Many questions were based on knowledge related to a certain law that was passed or a particular amendment or a bill produced in the Parliament. Legal aptitude questions also made up for a fair amount of questions in this section.
