Symbiosis is one of India's leading educational Institutions
imparting quality education for over 30 years. The Symbiosis
is a family of 36 academic institutions spread across 17 campuses
in and around Pune.
The Symbiosis journey began with the motto “Promoting
International Understanding through Quality Education”,
on a surge of enthusiasm. Even though the first step involved
deliberation and much hesitation, it was spurred on by an incident
that, in itself, makes a poignant tale.
The institution was founded to alleviate the problems faced
by foreign students coming to India. At the time, these problems
included - accommodation, meals, medical care, guidance, coaching,
information about the city, etc.
Now many of these campuses are fully residential and recreational
facilities including swimming pools, amphitheaters & Health
Care centres.
Symbiosis is a beehive of international students from all across
the globe, being privy to Indian culture and hospitality.
Keeping its excellent track record in mind, in 2002, the Ministry
of Human Resources Development, Government of India conferred
the “Deemed to be University” status on Symbiosis,
and further in 2006 the University Grants Commission, Government
of India vide its notification withdrew the word Deemed and
renamed the University as Symbiosis International University.
The Symbiosis International University (SIU) as it is known
has set up a new campus at Lavale on the outskirts of Pune.
The colleges which have shifted base to this campus are SIBM,
SITM.SIMC (PG), and SIT. Set amidst a backdrop of lush green
hillsides, this site has been envisioned as a green zone.
Encouraging students and faculty alike to use eco friendly
transport like bicycles, the colleges are also fully residential
with no day scholars.

Beginning on a small note…
Established in 1978 with close to three decades of educational
excellence SIBM the flagship brand of Symbiosis is recognized
as one of the Best Business schools in India.
In the year 1979, SIBM proved its pioneering self by becoming
the only institute in Pune to organize a seminar outside the
city precincts - in Mumbai. Soon the trend was set and others
followed suit. The concept of Internships / Summer Training
was another offering made by SIBM to Pune. It was in 1982 that
learning cum training scheme was started. The same year SIBM
was ranked among the top 5 B-Schools in India.
Another interesting fact is that the first computer which was
installed at SIBM was donated by the students in 1987. Another
student initiative came in the form of SIBM becoming Wi-Fi enabled
in the year 2005.
SIBM has certainly come a long way, in the year 1990, it was
the only B-School to have received permanent affiliation from
Pune University.

Bangalore is at the forefront of globalization, and SIBM was

SICSR: Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research,
Pune
With a mission to create and advance, to impart and propagate
and to apply computer knowledge for the sustained growth of
the individuals and society in the fields of Computer and Management,
SICSR, was started in 1985. SICSR was one the first computer
institutes in Maharashtra to offer high quality computer education.
It offers two post-graduate programs, an MBA (IT) and MSc
(CA).
To make the studies at SICSR an exhilarating intellectual
journey, the Symbiosis Institute endeavoured to develop the
necessary environment through the synergy of a well-qualified

SCMHRD: Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development
SCMHRD became a part of Symbiosis Family way back in 1993.
Since then, it has always envisaged and strived to bring Indian
ethos, management concepts and technological advances together
in an effort to redefine the management in contemporary paradigm.
The vision and pursuit for excellence in education has transformed
SCMHRD from a small centre in Atur Centre in Model colony

SIIB: Symbiosis Institute of International Business
The Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB)
started its journey in 1992 as the Symbiosis Institute of
Foreign Trade (SIFT). SIU instituted SIIB as it felt the need
to provide a foresight to budding managers and enable its
alumni to tackle the changes in an economy. To enhance this
global vision, SIIB developed affiliations with international
universities of Bremen University (Germany) and Oakland University
(USA). The institute upholds the dictum of ‘Equip for
Change’ and has been walking that extra mile for the
last 17 years to fulfill it.
Life at SIIB is really enthralling. The student exchange programs
and intellectually stimulating annual fests like Ignisense,

Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management (SITM) is one of the
finest techno- management business schools which was established

entire SAARC region. SITM endeavors to develop World-Class Telecom
